Special technique for secondary impression in a partially dentulous patient with border moulding.

This is from one of my cases where the patient Mr.Amol Kumar Das refused to get these two teeth extracted but desired to have a well fitter Denture at the same time .This made me discover this new procedure done for the requirement .
The patient had two of his teeth remaining in his mandible,it was canine and first premolar in the left side as shown in the below picture of the cast prepared from the primary impression using Alginate .

Special acrilic tray was fabricated using polymer and monomer using the same primary cast which was followed by wax pattern fabrication surrounding these two remaining teeth,which was acrilized later .

 Result after acrilization .. the special tray has been fabricated completely. Using this same tray i had taken the impression of his lower arch with a combination of ZOE and Alginate together which had given a beautiful secondary impression after the bordermoulding done using the green stick compound. The picture of the Secondary impression is given below.

This was followed by beading and boxing .Finally dental stone was used to get the master caste which i used for the denture.

The master caste with superb details of every anatomical region was hence obtained in a partially dentulous patient.

Try this technique and get beautiful results .

Disadvantage : technique sensitive ; requires skills ;
time consuming.

Advantage : good anatomic details in the master caste ;
patient's satisfaction.
